The Cardiff Council Cabinet will consider this week (16th November) new and exciting proposals for the delivery of employment services across Cardiff. Due to be implemented by April next year, the new approach includes a simple gateway into employment services, available at community hubs, libraries and community buildings and in-depth mentoring and support to help people address any barriers they have to returning to work.
Advice and assistance would also be available for people looking to set up their own business or social enterprise to help develop the entrepreneurial culture in individuals and communities.
There is widespread support for the proposals with a recent public consultation finding that 82% of respondents agreeing that the Council should directly provide and co-ordinate employment service, and 92% favouring the introduction of a simple gateway into services.
